Project

A new season of cup football called for a complete rebrand of the TOTO KNVB Cup. As the oldest football competition in the Netherlands, the tournament was looking for a contemporary visual identity and sonic language that reflected the intensity, excitement, and unpredictability of knockout football. We were proud to help bring that vision to life.

In addition to developing the new brand identity, we delivered a comprehensive broadcast package that met international broadcasting standards. This included all on-screen graphics and motion assets required to support the competition across various media channels.

Beyond the core branding work, we also provided the KNVB with a wide range of campaign assets for both hygiene and hero campaigns across two consecutive seasons. Our collaboration continues to this day, supporting the competition with creative solutions that strengthen its presence both on and off the pitch.

Role

During my two seasons at Studio GraphicHunters, I was responsible for serving as the primary point of contact for clients and all other stakeholders involved in the project. In my role as Client Lead and Project Manager, I managed projects from A to Z across all disciplines, overseeing planning, budgeting, stakeholder communication, execution, and quality control.

I coordinated both long-term project deliverables and ad hoc requests, ensuring that all work met the highest creative and operational standards while maintaining alignment between the client, production teams, and other stakeholders.

In addition to my project management responsibilities, I produced and art-directed the bumper and leader shoot, overseeing the creative vision and production process from concept development through final delivery.

A comprehensive broadcast kit for live action directing

Perhaps not the most glamorous part of the project, but arguably one of the most important when it comes to functional design and live broadcasting.

In close collaboration with ESPN and RCS, we developed a comprehensive live directing kit designed to accommodate every possible match scenario. The system was built to ensure that broadcast graphics, transitions, and storytelling elements could seamlessly adapt to the unpredictable nature of live football coverage.

Even edge cases were carefully considered. For example, what happens if a goal is scored within the opening seconds of a match? Unlikely, right? As it turned out, this happened during the 2022/23 season. Thanks to the robustness of the directing kit, the broadcast team was fully equipped to handle the situation without missing a beat.

While largely invisible to the viewer, this level of preparation and technical design plays a crucial role in delivering a seamless live broadcast experience.

Throughout the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 campaigns, creative agencies One:Nil and Studio GraphicHunters served as the driving creative forces behind the ideation and production of all campaign assets.
